“There’s no business, like show business!”
Chairman
I joined BHMTS at the ripe old age of 17, which was over 30 years ago and was called Burgess Hill Operatic Society in those days! I have had so many wonderful experiences with this society - my life and friendships are so much richer for having this fabulous hobby. There is often a lot of hard work and planning required to get the best from our shows and each one brings its own challenges and some incredible highs! Having met my husband on stage you could say this society has totally changed my life. We always welcome new members at BHMTS so even if you are a little tempted to be part of our group on or off stage, come along and give it a go.

Other Hobbies: Zumba, gardening, crochet & travelling the world.
Hon. Secretary
I’m a fairly new member of BHMTS joining in 2016 when the Society put on Dolly Parton's 9 to 5 - The Musical. I absolutely love being on stage and adore the fun and buzz of the rehearsals, but nothing beats the high of show week , from the set build and dress rehearsal right up to the curtain up on opening night . It’s very much a family atmosphere and my life is enriched from the fantastic friends I have made along the way . I currently am honoured to have the role of secretary on the committee and would say if you have a desire to get involved backstage or as a performer you will be made to feel very welcome .
Top Three Shows: 42 Street, Chicago, Les Miserables
Other Hobbies: Italian cooking holidays and wine tasting, Tap Dancing and Lindy hop, Classic Cars and keeping fit .
Interesting Fact: I have driven the Le Mans circuit in the original winning 1957 Jaguar Car with Norman Dewis the test driver.
Production Coordinator
I joined Burgess Hill Operatic Society over 30 years ago and have made some life long friendships. Doing a show you see the best and worst of people but the huge sense of cameradie that you experience makes you feel very special. During my time with the society I have been Chairman twice, have taken 3 productions to our twin town Schallemberg in Germany and am now currently back on the committee as the Production Co-Ordinator. In my spare time my 4 children and 4 grandchildren keep me out of mischief and I enjoy holidaying in Kenya with my husband.
Top Three Shows: Les Mis, Miss Saigon & Sound of Music
Other Hobbies: Events Organising, Cooking & Travel
Interesting Fact: I’ve started writing my own cook book based around my family and their favourite foods.
Publicity
I have been a member of BHMTS since 2001, practically dragged off the streets to be a Shark in their production of West Side Story! My involvement with the society has mainly been as a performer but this is my second spell on the Committee, now looking after Publicity and external communications. With my wife Michelle as the Chairman - musical theatre and this amazing society plays a huge part in my life.

Other Hobbies: Gardening, Travel and Eating Out
Interesting Fact: I have read The Lord of the Rings over 20 times
Communications
I have been a member of BHMTS since 2007 when my first show with the society was Children of Eden and my first impressions were that as a society they were so welcoming. Numerous years and productions down the line that hasn't changed and I'm so proud of the fact that new members are always welcomed with open arms! This year I made the decision to join the committee to really give something back to a society that allows us all to do what we love with people we love! I was basically reared in a rehearsal room with both parents having been involved in theater my whole life and my sister also a member of the society so I suppose you could say it's in my blood!!
Top Three Shows: Blood Brothers, Billy Elliot, Les Miserables
Other Hobbies: Are there others?! I'm kidding, eating. I like eating!!
Interesting Fact: I used to dance at Disneyland Paris in the parades!
Financial Controller
I have been involved in this fantastic Society for over 35 years now. During that time I have been involved in just about every aspect of theatre production. I have directed, played many roles, designed and built sets, served as Chairman and Treasurer and even played in the orchestra. Over the years, I have made many lifelong friends and had an absolute blast! Being part of the BHMTS family is a big part of my life and I recommend it to everyone.
